The Luckiest

The Luckiest

To have felt your touch
is to have lived on the surface
of the sun
breathing wildfire
learning how to shine.

To have kissed your skin
is to have melted ice
crossed oceans
travelled around this world
sun kissed and salty
lost to wind.

To have caught your eye
is to have held
all matter in the palm of your hand
unstoppable
rising fast against the cold
setting on a new globe.

To have breathed that instant
is to have completed
every task man made
stood firm against walled waves
and standing, still,
to have won
Unto the last
to have loved
Unto the last.
