Stargazing

Stargazing
for Jenna

Let the record state that we were drunk-
with eternity so close in our grasp.

What cage is this that holds us
Feather light in a city of smoke
Animal wild in halcyon days?
Should gravity come calling
answer this- that stars are dead
That sister blood bleeds quicker
So roaring into night shall echo
laughter; and find history in coded words.
